Vision boards, calendars, mobile apps, reminders, post-it pads, doodles on our desk, to-do lists, check lists. Sounds familiar? Well, it better be. These are the most common tools towards goal setting. Goal setting help us improve our willpower and enthusiasm. There is a long way coming to the final destination, and we do need encouragement on the way. This is why, we have to set checkpoints and time frames that will keep us focused to the goal we want to achieve.
As long as there is a vivid visualization for our wishes, the drive for achievement will grow proportionally. We should be able to trick our minds to think that everything is available to us. While accomplishing our goals, our mind will erase the fear of the impossible.
Mr. Tracy Brian explains the difference between goals and fantasies.
“A goal is something that is very clear. If you want a new house, you should specify, what size it should be, how many bedrooms. Wishing for house is not enough. The other important thing is WHEN. You have to set deadline for this goal. It might happen before, or after that, but ticking time will keep you alert.
There is nothing like that feeling of new beginnings. It can be the smallest thing, like the smell of a new notebook, starting a course, or a new car, new home, new job, friendship, relationship. Think of that feeling and all the excitement that is gathered around it. Use it for you next goal. For every obstacle, take few minutes, close you eyes, think of the finish line.
“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”
When we want something, our mind should not be set to:
– Beg for something to happen, but,
– Act like it’s already yours and make future plans how to use it or improve it.
We should be able to set our mind to handle every situation with the following thought:
“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.”
There are many goal setting strategies for improving our future plans.
For example, if you have a businesses goal you can use the S.M.A.R.T technique.
Whatever you choose, sharpen up your pencils and start writing. You are the architect of your future.
